Welcome to Piqueos Kingston the official Kingston Family Vineyards blog! A piqueo, per definition is a tidbit; a starter, an appetizer. Here we intend to give you little bites of Kingston, small snapshots of the what it’s like to be in our beautiful vineyards of Casablanca, Chile and our Portola Valley office in California, USA.
The story of our small family owned winery starts in the early 1900s when Carl John Kingston headed to Chile looking for gold. While “Gramps” never found his gold, five generations later we have planted grapes on his ranch and are blazing our own new trails in Chilean winemaking. From our hillside vineyards located in the far west of Chile’s Casablanca Valley, we specialize in small-production Pinot Noir, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.
While coastal Casablanca Valley is mostly known for its whites, we noticed its distinct similarity to California’s Central and Sonoma coasts. Under the guidance of Napa consulting winemaker Byron Kosuge and Chilean winemaker Amael Orrego, we are championing the region’s potential for cool-climate reds.
